Pragma Consulting was founded in 1989 in Brussels (Belgium) by Koen De Ryck, its Chairman and Managing Director on the model of American asset consultants. Koen De Ryck was employed in New York City in the second half of the 80'ties. He was a Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Nikko Capital Management, a Japanese international money manager, based in New York and affiliated with The Nikko Securities Group. In this position, he gained experience with the functioning of American asset consultants. In the United States, more than 4,000 financial institutions offer their services to more than 50,000 American pension funds. The competition amongst these financial institutions is tough. And this is precisely why the role of asset consultants is crucial. In Europe there was also a need for this kind of specialised and independent advice. Therefore in 1989 Koen De Ryck started his own global asset consulting services company in Belgium, specifically directed at the European market. The success of Pragma Consulting is based on being a fully independent asset consultant relying entirely on its own resources and having no affiliations with institutional investors or investment managers. We operate from our office in Vilvoorde, in the proximity of Brussels - the capital of Europe.
