International Client Base

Approximately two thirds of our clients are pension funds established in Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Portugal, Iceland, the UK and the US. Among pension fund clients there is a good cross-section of public and private sector funds as well as of company, industry/sector-wide and professional funds (this latter for the self-employed).

Most of the mandates we receive from our pension fund, life insurance and investment fund clients are aimed at supporting and improving the asset management of their portfolios. Others concern the provision of information on capital markets or on the evolution of regulation of the industry (mostly on the European level). In the past, one of our assignments concerned research for the European Commission in preparation of a European pension fund directive, which culminated in a report "Rebuilding Pensions" published by the Commission.
Following the achievement of the "Rebuilding Pensions" in which Pragma Consulting was engaged in 1997 through 1999, in early 2003 Pragma was asked by the European Commission (DG Ecfin) to engage in a research project on "The Pension Issues in the (10) New Member States". Co-sponsors for this project, which included an extensive questionnaire, were some of the largest European pension funds including ABP (the Dutch civil servants pension fund), PGGM (the Dutch health care pension fund), PKA (the Danish health care pension fund), Universities Superannuation Scheme (the UK pension administration fund for academic staff) and Telefonica /Fonditel (the largest Spanish pension fund). By comparing the pension systems of the EU-15 with those of the 10 NMS and confronting these latter with the Community "acquis", the report culminates in 52 issues for further consideration, with due respect for local differences. This report has been published in 2005, and is available on request.

In addition Pragma has been consultant for several European and international organisations such as The European Commission, The OECD, The World Bank.
